Reel Action Film Festival

To celebrate the outdoors and all that the Midlands of South Carolina has to offer, Palmetto Conservation, with the partnership of outdoor organizations throughout the Southeast will host the "Reel Action" Festival of Film and Outdoors October 9th - 11th, 2008- sponsored by WACHOVIA.

Here are some activities that will take place during the festival:

• Make your own film.
  
• Meet an award winning author
  
• Learn to mountain and road bike, kayak, rock climb.
  
• Learn what gear is best for you; participate in a hike.

A highlight of the festival will be an amateur do-it-yourself film contest featuring fun in the outdoors. Five winning films will be screened at Columbia's Nickelodeon Theater on Saturday, October 11, 2008. Entrants should submit films that are no longer than 10 minutes, are entertaining and set in the outdoors. The winning films will be chosen by a select group of judges and will be eligible to receive prizes up to $500.00. The deadline for submissions is September 15, 2008.
